Argyria in the ED

      —Argyria, a generalized irreversible grayish discoloration of the skin caused by the chronic absorption of silver, has been associated for centuries with the therapeutic use of silver products. The following is a report of argyria associated with the chronic ingestion of a colloidal silver product touted as a natural alternative to antibiotics. The patient ingested the colloidal silver product in an attempt to treat Lyme disease.
